Q Tonic
Q Tonic Water
According to the gin and tonic experts at Q Tonic. It stands alone as a soft drink, refreshingly effervescent and minimally sweet, with a touch of quinine and a broader hit of lemon. In my opinion this translates to tonic water for people who don't like tonic. It drinks easy on it's own and I liked it that way but it is not robust enough to count as tonic water when mixed. I feel it gets lost. I like the taste of quinine and I love that in a gin and tonic, if that wasn't the case I would just order a gin martini or gin and soda. 6.3 oz. $2.00 - $2.50 a bottle
Fever Tree Tonic
Fever Tree Tonic Water
I finally got my hands on Fever Tree. On its own you encounter slight
citrus up front with a mild quinine. The tart strikes on the perimeter of your tongue and I found it very easy to drink. I felt an increase in salivation which is pleasant if enjoying with food. While I had heard GREAT things about Fever Tree I found it to have marginally more flavor and character then Q. I enjoyed it but overall was disappointed that it too was somewhat lost in a G&T. I found it poured a pretty good Plymouth and tonic, better then Q but not as good as mine :)

Nice balance on the sweet compared to the regular version.
Clean with pronounced lemon. My favorite commercially
bottled tonic. Makes a nice G&T. 6.3 oz. $2.50 bottle

Stirrings Tonic Water
Too bubbly with not much of a presence on sweet. Overall it is mellow,
does not stand out in flavor. Mixed in a G&T it is lost while still being too
bubbly. The result is a bubbly gin and soda with a whisper of quinine.
6.3oz. $2.00 - $2.50 a bottle

Fentimans Tonic Water
Fentimans
The first thing to strike the palate is sweet. Botanical notes follow with the
quinine rising next. It finishes with the the same botanical complexity.
I like it but don't love it. When mixed in a G&T the tart comes through too
much. I think the main issue I have is your taste buds are trying to sort
out the muddled botanical flavors going on and it distracts from the drink.
125 ml. $2.00 - $2.50 a bottle
